Air fryer steak

Air fryer steak is a game-changer — quick, juicy, and beautifully browned with little mess. Whether you’re craving a ribeye, sirloin, or filet, the air fryer delivers great results without firing up the grill or stove.


🥩 Air Fryer Steak Recipe

Crispy outside, juicy inside — done in under 15 minutes!

🍽️ Serves: 2

⏱️ Total Time: ~15–20 minutes (plus resting time)


🛒 Ingredients:

  • 2 steaks (ribeye, New York strip, sirloin, or filet mignon – 1 to 1½ inches thick)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp salt (kosher or sea salt preferred)

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • Optional: 1/2 tsp garlic powder, paprika, or steak seasoning blend

  • Optional: Butter + fresh herbs (like rosemary, thyme) for basting after cooking


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Preheat your air fryer:

  • Set to 400°F (200°C) and let it heat for about 3 minutes.

2. Season the steaks:

  • Pat steaks dry with paper towels (this helps browning).

  • Rub both sides with olive oil.

  • Season generously with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings.

3. Air fry:

  • Place steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).

  • Cook at 400°F (200°C) for:

    Desired Doneness Time (per side) Internal Temp
    Rare 4 + 3 mins 120–125°F (49–52°C)
    Medium-Rare 5 + 3 mins 130–135°F (54–57°C)
    Medium 6 + 4 mins 140–145°F (60–63°C)
    Well Done 7 + 5 mins 155–160°F+ (68°C+)

🔥 Flip halfway through cooking for even browning. Use a meat thermometer for best results.

4. Rest the steak:

  • Transfer to a plate, tent loosely with foil, and let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.

  • Optionally top with a pat of butter and fresh herbs to melt into the steak.


🧈 Bonus: Easy Garlic Herb Butter

Mix together:

  • 2 tbsp softened butter

  • 1 garlic clove (minced)

  • 1 tsp chopped parsley or thyme

  • Pinch of salt

Spoon onto the steak right before serving.


🍽️ Great with:

  • Roasted or air-fried potatoes

  • Garlic green beans or asparagus

  • Creamed spinach

  • Caesar salad


🔄 Tips & Variations:

  • Thinner steaks (under 1 inch) cook faster — adjust time down slightly.

  • Marinate for extra flavor (try balsamic, soy, or herb marinades).

  • Try compound butters (blue cheese, chipotle, or Dijon) for steakhouse flavor.
