American Goulash — a cozy, hearty, and super flavorful one-pot dish! 🇺🇸🍲 It’s like a comforting mash-up of pasta, ground beef, and a rich tomato sauce, perfect for a family dinner or meal prep.


🇺🇸 American Goulash

🍽️ Serves: 6

⏱️ Time: About 40 minutes


🛒 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes (or crushed tomatoes)

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth or water

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (or any small pasta)

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Brown the beef:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.

  • Add ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook until beef is browned and onions softened. Drain excess fat.

2. Add liquids & seasoning:

  • Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  • Bring to a simmer.

3. Cook pasta:

  • Add dry pasta to the pot, stir well.

  • Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce thickens.

4. Add cheese (optional):

  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, cover, and let melt for a few minutes.


🍽️ Serve with:

  • Garlic bread

  • Simple green salad

  • Steamed veggies


💡 Tips:

  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or plant-based crumbles.

  • Add bell peppers or mushrooms with the onions for extra veggies.

  • Use elbow macaroni, rotini, or any small pasta you like.
