Here’s a simple, cozy Apple Pie Bars recipe 🍎🥧 — all the flavors of apple pie, but much easier to make and slice.


Apple Pie Bars

Ingredients

Crust & Topping

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Apple Filling

  • 4–5 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    Set to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make the crust
    In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    Cut in butter until crumbly.
    Mix in egg and vanilla until dough forms.
  3. Press crust
    Press about ⅔ of the dough into the bottom of the pan.
  4. Prepare apples
    Toss apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour.
  5. Layer & crumble
    Spread apples evenly over crust.
    Crumble remaining dough over the top.
  6. Bake
    Bake 45–50 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
  7. Cool & slice
    Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Optional Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla

Drizzle over cooled bars for bakery-style sweetness ✨


Tips

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji.
  • For extra crunch, add chopped walnuts or pecans to the topping.
  • Tastes even better the next day!
