Apple pie with creamy custard

Posted on January 23, 2026 by Admin

Ooo, that’s a cozy classic with a twist 🍎🥧
Here’s a warm Apple Pie with Creamy Custard—think tender spiced apples, flaky crust, and a silky vanilla custard poured over or baked in.

🍎 Apple Pie

Ingredients

Pie Filling

  • 6–7 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled & sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar (mix white + brown if you like)
  • 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Crust

  • 1 double pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: 375°F (190°C)
  2. Mix filling: Toss apples with sugar, flour, spices, vanilla, and lemon juice.
  3. Assemble pie:
    • Place bottom crust in pie dish
    • Fill with apple mixture
    • Cover with top crust, crimp edges, and cut slits
  4. Bake:
    • Bake 45–55 minutes until golden and bubbly
    • Cover edges with foil if browning too fast
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

🍮 Creamy Vanilla Custard (pour-over style)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk or half-and-half
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Heat milk in a saucepan until steaming (not boiling).
  2. Whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Slowly whisk hot milk into egg mixture.
  4. Return to saucepan and cook on low, stirring constantly, until thick.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Serve warm custard over warm apple pie 🤍

🔥 Optional: Baked Custard Apple Pie Version

Instead of pour-over custard:

  • Mix 1 cup cream + 2 eggs + 1/4 cup sugar + vanilla
  • Pour over baked apple pie during the last 15 minutes of baking
  • Bake until custard is just set (slight jiggle in center)

Serving Tip

Best served warm with:

  • Custard drizzle
  • Light dusting of cinnamon
  • Optional whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (yes, both is allowed)

If you want, I can give you a British-style apple pie with thick custard or a French custard-filled apple tart version too. 🍏✨
