Yum! 🍎🍞 Applesauce Bread is cozy, moist, and full of warm cinnamon flavor — a perfect quick bread for breakfast, snacks, or dessert. It’s easy to make, uses simple ingredients, and makes your kitchen smell amazing while baking.

Here’s a classic, foolproof recipe 👇

🍏 Homemade Applesauce Bread

Ingredients (makes 1 loaf)

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened) or ½ cup oil

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (you can use half brown sugar for extra flavor)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Add-ins:

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

  • ½ cup raisins or dried cranberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. Mix dry ingredients:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. Cream butter and sugar:
In a separate bowl, beat butter (or oil) and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and mix until smooth.

  4. Add applesauce & vanilla:
Stir in applesauce and vanilla until combined.

  5. Combine:
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir gently just until combined (don’t overmix).
Fold in nuts or raisins if using.

  6. Bake:
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. Cool:
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

💡 Tips

  • For a healthier version, substitute half the flour with whole wheat flour and reduce sugar to ½ cup.

  • Drizzle with a simple cinnamon glaze (powdered sugar + milk + cinnamon) for a sweet finish.

  • Keeps well for up to 4 days at room temperature or freeze for up to 3 months.

Would you like me to give you a glazed cinnamon swirl version or a whole wheat no-sugar-added version next?
