Atlantic Beach pie

Posted on February 9, 2026 by Admin

Ah, Atlantic Beach Pie — a classic Southern dessert from North Carolina! 🥧✨ It’s a creamy, tangy, sweet custard pie in a buttery crust, often topped with whipped cream. Perfect for summer or any time you want a light, refreshing dessert.

Here’s a traditional recipe:

Atlantic Beach Pie

Ingredients

For the crust:

  • 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 6 tbsp butter, melted
  • ¼ cup sugar

For the filling:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice (about 2–3 lemons)
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional topping:

  • Whipped cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar.
  3. Press mixture into a 9-inch pie pan, forming an even layer on bottom and up the sides.
  4. Bake 8–10 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool.

2. Make the filling

  1. In a bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, egg yolks, and vanilla.
  2. Pour mixture into cooled crust.

3. Bake the pie

  1. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12–15 minutes until filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  2. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill completely.

4. Serve

  • Top with whipped cream if desired.
  • Slice and enjoy this tangy, creamy treat!

Tips & Variations

  • Extra citrus flavor: Add a bit of lime juice for a twist.
  • Garnish: Grated lemon zest or a sprinkle of toasted coconut.
  • Crust alternatives: Use a shortbread crust for extra richness.

If you want, I can give you a “super creamy, no-bake Atlantic Beach Pie version” that’s even lighter and faster — perfect for hot summer days.
