Bacon and Tomato Sandwiches

Ingredients (per sandwich)

  • 2 slices of bread (your choice: white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 2–3 slices of cooked bacon
  • 2–3 slices of ripe tomato
  • Lettuce leaves (optional)
  • Mayonnaise or butter
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Cook the Bacon

  • Fry bacon in a pan over medium heat until crispy, or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes on a baking sheet.
  • Drain on paper towels.

2. Prepare the Bread

  • Toast the bread slices lightly (optional, but adds crunch).
  • Spread mayonnaise or butter on one or both slices.

3. Assemble the Sandwich

  1. Place lettuce on one slice of bread (optional).
  2. Layer tomato slices on top. Sprinkle lightly with salt and black pepper.
  3. Add the cooked bacon.
  4. Top with the second slice of bread.

4. Serve

  • Cut in half and serve immediately.
  • Optional: serve with pickles, avocado, or a fried egg for extra flavor.

Tips

  • Use ripe, juicy tomatoes for the best flavor.
  • For a hot version, place the assembled sandwich in a panini press for 2–3 minutes.
  • Swap bacon for turkey bacon or a plant-based alternative for a lighter version.
