Baked Potato

A classic Baked Potato is simple, satisfying, and endlessly customizable — crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and ready to be loaded with your favorite toppings. Whether you’re serving it as a side or making it the main event, here’s how to get it just right.


🥔 Perfect Baked Potato (Oven Method)

📋 Ingredients (for 4 potatoes):

  • 4 russet potatoes (choose ones similar in size for even cooking)

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

  • Kosher salt (for crisp skin)

  • Optional toppings:

    • Butter, sour cream, shredded cheese

    • Bacon bits, green onions, chives

    • Steamed broccoli, chili, or pulled pork


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven

  • Set to 425°F (220°C).

2. Prep the potatoes

  • Scrub potatoes thoroughly and pat dry.

  • Prick each one a few times with a fork (to release steam while baking).

  • Rub with olive oil and sprinkle generously with kosher salt.

3. Bake directly on oven rack

  • This allows air to circulate and the skins to crisp up.

  • Place a baking sheet on the rack below to catch any drips.

  • Bake for 45–60 minutes, depending on size.

  • Check doneness by piercing with a knife — it should slide in easily.

4. Fluff and serve

  • Let cool a few minutes.

  • Slice down the middle, squeeze gently to fluff the inside, and add your favorite toppings.


🔄 Optional Cooking Methods

🥔 Microwave shortcut:

  • Microwave on high for 5–7 minutes, turning halfway through.

  • Finish in the oven at 425°F for 10–15 minutes for crispy skin.

🔥 Grill:

  • Wrap in foil and grill over medium heat for about 45–60 minutes, turning occasionally.
