Here’s your go-to guide for making perfect boiled eggs, whether you want them soft, jammy, or hard-boiled. 🥚

🍳 How to Boil Eggs (Easy & Reliable)

🛒 You’ll Need:

  • Eggs (as many as you want)

  • Water

  • Saucepan with lid

  • Bowl of ice water (for cooling & easy peeling)

⏱️ Cooking Times (from boiling point):

Desired Texture Cook Time
Soft-boiled 6 minutes
Jammy center 7–8 minutes
Fully hard-boiled 9–12 minutes

🥄 Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Place eggs in a pot

    • Arrange eggs in a single layer in a saucepan.

    • Cover with cold water (about 1 inch above eggs).

  2. Bring to a boil

    • Heat over medium-high heat until the water reaches a full rolling boil.

  3. Turn off the heat

    • Once boiling, turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid, and let the eggs sit:

      • 6 min for soft

      • 7–8 min for jammy

      • 9–12 min for hard-boiled

  4. Ice bath

    • Transfer eggs immediately to a bowl of ice water and let sit for at least 5 minutes.

    • This stops the cooking and makes peeling easier.

  5. Peel and enjoy

    • Tap the shell gently on the counter, roll, and peel under running water if needed.

🧂 Tips:

  • Older eggs peel easier than fresh ones.

  • Add a splash of vinegar or baking soda to the water to help with peeling.

  • Store hard-boiled eggs in the fridge for up to 7 days.
