🧈 Soft Garlic Breadsticks
📋 Ingredients (makes about 12 breadsticks):
For the dough:

1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 45°C)

2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

2 tbsp granulated sugar

3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

1 1/2 tsp salt

3 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for kneading)
For the topping:

2 tbsp melted butter
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
Optional: parsley, grated Parmesan

1. Activate the yeast

In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make the dough

Stir in olive oil, salt, and flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
3. Knead the dough

Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

(Or use a stand mixer with the dough hook.)
4. First rise

Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 45–60 minutes until doubled.
5. Shape the breadsticks

Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each into a 6–8 inch rope and place on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
6. Second rise

Cover and let rise again for 20–30 minutes.
7. Bake

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Bake for 12–15 minutes or until lightly golden.
8. Brush with butter topping

While warm, brush with melted butter mixed with garlic powder and salt.

Sprinkle with parsley or Parmesan if desired.
