Burritos are a delicious, versatile, and satisfying meal—basically a flour tortilla wrapped around your favorite fillings! Whether you want a classic style or a fun twist, here’s a simple and tasty burrito recipe to get you started:


🌯 Classic Burrito

Ingredients (makes 2 large burritos):

  • 2 large flour tortillas

  • 1 cup cooked rice (white, brown, or cilantro-lime rice)

  • 1 cup cooked beans (black beans, pinto beans, or refried beans)

  • 1 cup cooked and seasoned protein (ground beef, shredded chicken, steak, or tofu)

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)

  • 1/2 cup salsa or pico de gallo

  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup chopped lettuce

  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes or avocado

  • Optional: sliced jalapeños, cilantro, lime wedges


Instructions:

  1. Warm the tortillas: Heat tortillas in a dry skillet for about 20-30 seconds per side or microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel for 15 seconds.

  2. Layer fillings: In the center of each tortilla, layer rice, beans, protein, cheese, salsa, sour cream, lettuce, and any other toppings you like.

  3. Fold: Fold the sides over the filling, then roll from the bottom up to enclose everything tightly.

  4. Optional – grill: Place the burrito seam side down on a skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes to seal and crisp the outside.

  5. Serve: Cut in half and enjoy with extra salsa, guac, or hot sauce.


Variations:

  • Breakfast burrito: Scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, cheese, and potatoes

  • Veggie burrito: Roasted veggies, beans, rice, cheese, and avocado

  • Burrito bowl: Same fillings without the tortilla, served in a bowl
