Oh yes! Cheesy Potato Balls are crispy, gooey, and downright addictive bites of comfort. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or party treat!

Here’s a simple recipe for golden, cheesy potato balls:


🧀 Cheesy Potato Balls

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 3 cups mashed potatoes (prepared, cooled)

  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 2 green onions or chives, finely chopped (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Mix ingredients:
    In a bowl, combine mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, flour, garlic powder, green onions, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  2. Form balls:
    Scoop about 1–2 tablespoons of mixture and roll into balls.

  3. Coat:
    Dip each ball into beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs until fully coated.

  4. Chill (optional):
    Place coated balls on a tray and refrigerate for 15–20 minutes to help firm up.

  5. Fry:
    Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry potato balls in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 3–4 minutes).

  6. Drain:
    Remove and drain on paper towels.


🍽️ Serve with:

  • Ranch dressing, sour cream, or spicy ketchup

  • Garlic aioli or marinara sauce


🔄 Variations:

  • Add cooked bacon bits or ham into the potato mix

  • Use mozzarella for extra gooey centers

  • Bake instead of fry for a lighter version (400°F for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway)
