🍒 Cherry Pie Bars

Ingredients

Crust & Topping

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Filling

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon vanilla extract for extra flavor

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  4. Press 2/3 of the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan to form the base.

2️⃣ Add the Filling

  1. Spread cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
  2. Optional: stir in vanilla extract into the cherry filling.

3️⃣ Add the Topping

  1. Crumble the remaining 1/3 of the crust mixture over the cherry layer.
  2. Press lightly to adhere, but leave some crumbly texture.

4️⃣ Bake

  • Bake 35–40 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  • Let cool completely in the pan.

5️⃣ Serve

  • Cut into squares or bars.
  • Optional: dust with powdered sugar before serving.

  • For extra flavor, add almond extract to the cherry filling.
  • You can use fresh or frozen cherries, but adjust sugar slightly if cherries are tart.
  • Bars store in the fridge for up to 5 days — or freeze for longer storage.
