Chocolate cake with nuts

Here’s a classic, moist Chocolate Cake with Nuts recipe — rich chocolate flavor combined with crunchy nuts for the perfect texture!


🍫 Chocolate Cake with Nuts

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1½ tsp baking powder

  • 1½ tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or your favorite)

For the Frosting (Optional):

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3½ cups powdered sugar

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup milk (add more as needed)

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ cup chopped nuts for garnish (optional)


Instructions

1. Make the Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  • In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

  • Stir in boiling water carefully (batter will be thin).

  • Fold in the chopped nuts.

  • Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  • Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.

2. Make the Frosting (Optional)

  • Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder alternately with milk.

  • Add vanilla and beat until smooth and fluffy.

3. Assemble

  • Frost the cooled cakes with frosting and sprinkle extra nuts on top if desired.


Tips

  • Toast the nuts lightly to bring out their flavor.

  • Substitute half the oil with applesauce for a lighter cake.

  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
