Here’s a hearty, comforting recipe for a Classic Meatloaf Meal — tender, juicy meatloaf topped with a tangy ketchup glaze, served with creamy mashed potatoes and green beans for a complete old-fashioned dinner.


🍽️ Classic Meatloaf Meal

🧾 Ingredients:

For the Meatloaf:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/3 cup ketchup (plus more for topping)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • Optional: 1 tsp dried parsley or Italian seasoning

For the Glaze:

  • 1/3 cup ketchup

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp mustard or apple cider vinegar


🔪 Instructions:

1. Preheat oven:

  • Set to 350°F (175°C).

2. Mix meatloaf:

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, eggs, milk, Worcestershire, ketchup, salt, and pepper.

  • Mix until just combined — don’t overwork it.

3. Shape & glaze:

  • Shape the meat mixture into a loaf on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a loaf pan.

  • In a small bowl, mix together the glaze ingredients and spread over the top of the meatloaf.

4. Bake:

  • Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

  • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.


🥔 Suggested Sides:

Creamy Mashed Potatoes:

  • Boil peeled potatoes until tender.

  • Mash with butter, warm milk or cream, salt, and pepper.

  • Optional: add sour cream or roasted garlic for extra richness.

Garlic Green Beans:

  • Blanch green beans until just tender.

  • Sauté in olive oil or butter with garlic, salt, and pepper.


📝 Tips:

  • Use a mix of beef and pork for a richer flavor.

  • Leftover meatloaf makes great sandwiches the next day.

  • To avoid sogginess, let the meatloaf rest before slicing.
