Here’s a Cracker Barrel–style Meatloaf recipe — a hearty, homestyle dish made famous by the chain’s comfort-food menu. This version is packed with flavor from sautéed onions and bell peppers, bound together with cheddar cheese and Ritz crackers, and finished with a sweet glaze on top. 🍽️🍖


🍽️ Cracker Barrel Copycat Meatloaf

📝 Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

For the meatloaf:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 recommended)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped (optional)

  • 1 cup Ritz cracker crumbs (about 20 crackers, crushed)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the glaze:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp mustard (optional)


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat & prep:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment.

2. Sauté veggies (optional but recommended):

In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion and bell pepper in a bit of oil until softened (about 5 minutes). Let cool slightly.

3. Mix the meatloaf:

In a large bowl, combine:

  • Ground beef

  • Sautéed veggies

  • Crushed Ritz crackers

  • Shredded cheddar cheese

  • Eggs

  • Milk

  • Salt & pepper

Mix gently until just combined — don’t overwork it.

4. Shape & bake:

  • Shape into a loaf and place in pan or on baking sheet.

  • Bake for 30 minutes, then remove and spread glaze on top.

  • Return to oven and bake an additional 25–30 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

5. Rest & slice:

Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing for clean cuts and juicier meat.

Pair with:

  • Mashed potatoes and brown gravy

  • Green beans or corn

  • Mac & cheese or fried apples


🔁 Tips & Variations

  • Use saltine crackers or breadcrumbs if you don’t have Ritz.
