🥩 Crock Pot Cube Steak with Gravy
Ingredients:
-
4–6 cube steaks (about 1.5–2 lbs)
-
1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
-
1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup (or use 2 of one kind)
-
1 packet onion soup mix (like Lipton)
-
1/2 cup beef broth or water
-
1 medium onion, sliced (optional, but recommended)
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
-
Optional: 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, or mushrooms for extra flavor
🧑🍳 Instructions:
-
Layer Ingredients in Crock Pot:
-
Place sliced onions (if using) at the bottom of the crock pot.
-
Layer cube steaks on top.
-
In a separate bowl, mix together both soups, soup mix, broth, and any optional add-ins (like Worcestershire or mushrooms).
-
Pour the mixture over the steaks, covering completely.
-
-
Cook:
-
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3.5–4.5 hours, until meat is fork-tender.
-
-
Serve:
-
Stir the gravy and serve cube steak with mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or over toast or biscuits.
-
🍽️ What to Serve With It:
-
Mashed potatoes or buttered noodles
-
Steamed green beans, corn, or peas
-
Cornbread or buttermilk biscuits
💡 Tips:
-
Cube steak will become fall-apart tender in the slow cooker — no need to brown it first.
-
Want a thicker gravy? Mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water, stir into the crock pot in the last 30 minutes.
-
You can add fresh sliced mushrooms or a splash of heavy cream near the end for extra richness.
