Cumin cheese buns

Oh yum! 🧀✨ Cumin Cheese Buns are savory, soft, and fragrant little buns perfect for snacking or alongside meals. The cumin adds a warm, earthy aroma that pairs beautifully with melty cheese inside.


🧄🧀 Cumin Cheese Buns


Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp active dry yeast

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cumin seeds (or toasted cumin seeds for more flavor)

  • 1 cup warm milk (or water)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)

  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

  • Optional: extra cumin seeds or sesame seeds for topping


Instructions:

1. Activate Yeast:

  • In a small bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.

2. Make Dough:

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and ground cumin.

  • Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix and knead until a soft, elastic dough forms (about 8-10 minutes).

3. First Rise:

  • Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.

4. Shape Buns:

  • Punch down the dough and divide into 10–12 equal pieces.

  • Flatten each piece, add a spoonful of grated cheese in the center, and fold the dough over to seal. Shape into buns.

5. Second Rise:

  • Place buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Cover and let rise 30 minutes.

6. Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Optional: brush buns with milk or egg wash and sprinkle cumin or sesame seeds on top.

  • Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.

7. Serve:

  • Let cool slightly before serving warm.


Tips:

  • Use strong cheddar or a melting cheese like mozzarella for best texture.

  • Toast cumin seeds beforehand for extra aroma.

  • These buns freeze well — just reheat before serving.
