Ooooh, donuts filled with custard cream and Nutella — that’s a next-level indulgence! Soft, fluffy fried donuts stuffed with rich, creamy custard or luscious Nutella, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Here’s a recipe to make them from scratch:

🍩 Donuts Filled with Custard Cream & Nutella

🕒 Prep: 2 hrs (including rising) | Cook: 15 min

🍽️ Makes: 12 donuts

🧂 Ingredients

For the donuts:

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the custard cream:

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup cornstarch

  • 4 egg yolks

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Nutella (store-bought)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the custard cream

  • In a saucepan, heat milk until just simmering.

  • In a bowl, whisk sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until smooth.

  • Slowly pour hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

  • Return mixture to saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened (about 5 min).

  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and butter.

  • Transfer to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap touching the surface to prevent skin. Chill until cold.

2. Prepare the donuts dough

  • In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let sit 5–10 min until foamy.

  • Add sugar, melted butter, egg, salt, and flour gradually. Knead until soft and elastic (~8 min).

  • Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, until doubled.

3. Shape and fry donuts

  • Roll dough to ½-inch thickness. Cut out circles with a 3-inch cutter.

  • Place on a baking sheet, cover and let rise 30 min.

  • Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts in batches, 1–2 minutes per side, until golden. Drain on paper towels.

4. Fill donuts

  • Fill a piping bag fitted with a long narrow tip with custard cream.

  • Poke a hole in the side of each donut and fill until you feel resistance.

  • Repeat with Nutella for some donuts.

5. Serve

  • Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate glaze if you like. Serve fresh!

🔁 Variations & Tips

  • Mix custard and Nutella in one piping bag for a marbled filling.

  • Use store-bought pastry cream to save time.

  • For baked version, bake doughnuts in a donut pan and fill after cooling.
