For the Peanut Butter Banana Frosting:

  • ¼ cup milk (more if needed)

  • 1 ripe banana, mashed

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Topping:
  • Sliced bananas

  • Chopped peanuts or peanut butter chips

  • Chocolate drizzle

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease and flour a 9×13-inch sheet pan.

2. Make the Cake:

  • In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla; beat until smooth.

  • Stir in hot water (batter will be thin).

  • Pour into prepared pan and bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  • Let cool completely.

3. Prepare Frosting:

  • Beat butter and peanut butter until smooth.

  • Add mashed banana and vanilla, mix well.

  • Gradually add powdered sugar alternating with milk until frosting is creamy and spreadable.

4. Frost the Cake:

  • Spread frosting evenly over cooled cake.

  • Top with sliced bananas, peanuts, or drizzle chocolate if desired.

Tips:

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.

  • This cake tastes even better chilled for a few hours.

  • You can swap out peanut butter for almond or other nut butters.
