That statement is misleading, but it comes from a real trick that surprises people.
The truth
👉 Every washing machine can remove a lot of water from clothes, but
👉 most washing machines cannot fully dry laundry like a dryer.
What people mean by this “hidden function”
Most washing machines have a spin cycle (sometimes called extra spin or drain & spin).
-
The spin cycle rotates very fast
-
Centrifugal force pushes water out of the fabric
-
Clothes come out much drier than after washing
-
Drying time on a line or rack is significantly reduced
So the “surprising effect” is:
Using an extra or high-speed spin cycle makes clothes dry much faster afterward
What it is NOT
-
❌ It does not use heat
-
❌ It does not replace a tumble dryer
-
❌ Clothes will still be damp, not fully dry
When it’s useful
-
If you don’t have a dryer
-
On rainy or cold days
-
For thick items like jeans or towels
-
Before hanging clothes indoors
How to use it
-
Finish the wash
-
Select Spin / Drain & Spin
-
Choose the highest safe spin speed for the fabric
-
Run it once (or twice for heavy items)
Important caution
-
Delicate fabrics can stretch or wrinkle
-
Always check the clothing label
If you want, tell me:

Your machine type (front-load or top-load), or
-
The clothes you’re washing
and I’ll tell you the best spin settings 👍
