Cook the sausage

In a large skillet or cast-iron pan, heat 1 tbsp of butter/oil over medium heat.

Add sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides (about 5–7 minutes).

Remove sausage and set aside, leaving drippings in the pan.

Sauté the vegetables

Add the remaining butter/oil to the pan.
