🥘 Fried Cabbage with Shrimp, Sausage & Bacon

🛒 Ingredients:

4–6 slices bacon, chopped

½ lb smoked sausage (andouille or kielbasa), sliced

½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped
-
1 small onion, sliced
-
2–3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp butter
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
-
½ tsp smoked paprika
-
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Splash of chicken broth, hot sauce, or apple cider vinegar (optional, for depth)
👨🍳 Instructions:
1. Cook the bacon:

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy.

Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
2. Sauté the sausage:

In the same skillet, add sliced sausage. Sear for 3–4 minutes until browned.

Remove and set aside with the bacon.
3. Cook the shrimp:

Add shrimp to the skillet (add a bit of butter if dry).

Cook 1–2 minutes per side, just until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
4. Sauté the onions & garlic:

Add sliced onion to the pan and cook until soft, about 3–4 minutes.

Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
5. Fry the cabbage:

Add chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to coat in drippings.

Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and optional red pepper flakes.

Cook 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and lightly caramelized.

Add a splash of broth or vinegar if needed to deglaze.
6. Combine everything:

Return shrimp, sausage, and bacon to the pan.

Toss together and cook for another 2–3 minutes to heat through and let flavors meld.
7. Serve hot, optionally with:

A squeeze of lemon or hot sauce on top
