Fried Rice

Got it! Here’s a simple, classic Fried Rice recipe that’s easy to customize and perfect for using leftover rice.


🍚 Classic Fried Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old, cold rice)

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil for extra flavor)

  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 cup mixed veggies (carrots, peas, corn, bell peppers — fresh or frozen)

  • 3 green onions, chopped (white and green parts separated)

  • 2-3 tbsp soy sauce (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, adds umami)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Optional protein: cooked shrimp, chicken, pork, or tofu


Instructions:

  1. Prepare the eggs:

    • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

    • Pour in the beaten eggs, scramble until just cooked, then remove and set aside.

  2. Cook veggies and aromatics:

    • Add the remaining 1 tbsp oil to the pan.

    • Sauté onion (white parts of green onions too) and garlic until fragrant (about 2 minutes).

    • Add mixed veggies and cook until tender (about 3-4 minutes).

  3. Add rice:

    • Break up clumps of cold rice and add it to the pan.

    • Stir-fry everything together for a few minutes, ensuring the rice heats through and gets a little toasted.

  4. Season:

    • Pour soy sauce and oyster sauce over rice.

    • Stir well to coat evenly.

    • Add salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Add eggs and green onion tops:

    • Stir in the scrambled eggs.

    • Toss in the green parts of the green onions.

    • Drizzle sesame oil if using.

  6. Serve hot:

    • Enjoy as a main dish or a side!


🍽️ Tips:

  • Day-old rice works best because it’s drier and prevents mushy fried rice.

  • Customize with whatever veggies or protein you like.

  • For a spicy kick, add some chili sauce or fresh chili flakes.
