🥕 Glazed Carrots
Ingredients
(Serves 4)
-
1 lb carrots, peeled and cut into sticks or rounds
-
2 tbsp butter
-
2 tbsp brown sugar (or honey/maple syrup)
-
Salt, to taste
-
Optional: ½ tsp ground cinnamon or fresh thyme for extra flavor
Instructions
1. Cook the carrots
-
Place carrots in a medium saucepan and cover with water.
-
Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.
-
Simmer until tender but not mushy, about 5–7 minutes.
-
Drain and set aside.
2. Make the glaze
-
In the same saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
-
Stir in brown sugar until it forms a smooth syrup.
3. Glaze the carrots
-
Add cooked carrots to the pan.
-
Toss to coat in the glaze and cook 2–3 more minutes until carrots are glossy and well-coated.
-
Season with additional salt or a sprinkle of cinnamon/herbs, if desired.
4. Serve
-
Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm.
💡 Tips
-
For extra flavor, add a splash of orange juice or lemon zest to the glaze.
-
Use baby carrots for a quicker cooking time and uniform glaze.
-
Can be prepared ahead and reheated — just add a little butter to refresh the glaze.
If you want, I can also give a honey-balsamic version that’s a bit tangy and super fancy for dinner parties. Do you want that?
