Here’s a classic and simple recipe for a delicious Glazed Ham — perfect for holidays or any special occasion!
🍖 Glazed Ham
Ingredients
-
1 fully cooked ham (about 6–8 pounds), bone-in or boneless
-
1 cup brown sugar
-
½ cup honey or maple syrup
-
¼ cup Dijon mustard or yellow mustard
-
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or orange juice
-
1 tsp ground cloves (optional)
-
Whole cloves for studding (optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
-
Prepare the ham:
-
If your ham has a rind, score it in a diamond pattern (about 1/8 inch deep) to help the glaze penetrate.
-
Optional: Stud the ham with whole cloves at the intersections of the scoring for flavor and decoration.
-
-
Make the glaze:
-
In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, honey (or maple syrup), mustard, apple cider vinegar (or orange juice), and ground cloves.
-
Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and glaze is smooth. Remove from heat.
-
-
Bake the ham:
-
Place ham in a roasting pan, flat side down.
-
Brush a generous amount of glaze all over the ham.
-
Tent loosely with foil.
-
-
Roast:
-
Bake for about 1½ to 2 hours (about 15–18 minutes per pound), basting with glaze every 20–30 minutes.
-
Remove foil for the last 15–20 minutes to let the glaze caramelize and get sticky.
-
-
Rest & serve:
-
Let the ham rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
-
Serve with any remaining glaze drizzled over.
-
Tips
-
Use a meat thermometer; ham is ready at 140°F internal temperature.
-
For a citrus twist, add orange zest to the glaze.
-
Leftover ham is great for sandwiches, soups, and casseroles!
