Hamburger Casserole

Classic, cozy, and feeds a crowd 🍲💛
Here’s a no-frills Hamburger Casserole—the kind everyone grew up on.


Hamburger Casserole

Ingredients (4–6 servings)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups cooked egg noodles (or elbow macaroni)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 can (14.5 oz / 410 g) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Optional: ½ tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat
    Heat oven to 175°C / 350°F. Grease a casserole dish.
  2. Brown the beef
    Cook ground beef with onion until browned.
    Drain excess fat. Add garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Mix it up
    Stir in soup, milk, and tomatoes.
    Fold in cooked noodles.
  4. Assemble
    Transfer to casserole dish and sprinkle cheese on top.
  5. Bake
    Bake uncovered 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and lightly golden.
  6. Rest & serve
    Let sit 5–10 minutes before serving.

Helpful tips

  • Undercook pasta slightly—it finishes in the oven
  • Want it creamier? Add 2 tbsp sour cream
  • Like crispy edges? Broil 2–3 minutes at the end

Easy variations

  • Cheesy deluxe: add mozzarella + cheddar
  • Veg boost: peas, corn, or green beans
  • Tater tot version: swap noodles for tots
  • Southwest: taco seasoning + pepper jack
