A hard-boiled egg is a simple, protein-packed snack or ingredient — but getting it just right (no grey yolk, no rubbery whites) makes all the difference!
Here’s how to make perfect hard-boiled eggs:
🥚 Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs
🛒 Ingredients:
-
Large eggs (as many as you want)
-
Water
-
Ice (for ice bath)
👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Place eggs in a pot
Arrange eggs in a single layer in a saucepan. Add enough cold water to cover them by about 1 inch.
2. Bring to a boil
Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring the water to a full rolling boil.
3. Turn off heat and cover
Once boiling, turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid, and let it sit:
-
9 minutes for creamy but set yolks
-
10–12 minutes for fully hard-cooked yolks
4. Cool in ice bath
Transfer eggs immediately to a bowl of ice water. Let sit for at least 5–10 minutes — this stops the cooking and makes peeling easier.
5. Peel and enjoy
Gently crack the shell all around and peel under running water for best results.
💡 Tips:
-
Older eggs (5–7 days) peel more easily than very fresh ones.
-
Store hard-boiled eggs in the fridge (unpeeled) for up to 1 week.
-
Great for egg salad, deviled eggs, salads, or just a sprinkle of salt and pepper!
