Here’s a delicious, classic Hash Brown Casserole recipe — creamy, cheesy, comforting, and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dinner.

🥘 Hash Brown Casserole (Classic & Easy)

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (30–32 oz) frozen shredded hash browns, thawed

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom for vegetarian)

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup melted butter

  • 1/2 cup finely diced onion

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • Optional: 1 cup crushed cornflakes mixed with 2 tbsp melted butter for topping

  • Optional mix-ins: cooked bacon, diced ham, or green peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    Set to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Mix Base Ingredients
    In a large bowl, combine:

    • Hash browns

    • Cream of chicken soup

    • Cheddar cheese

    • Sour cream

    • Melted butter

    • Onion

    • Garlic powder, salt, and pepper

Stir until everything is evenly coated.

  3. Transfer to Baking Dish
Spread mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  4. Add Optional Crunchy Topping
Combine crushed cornflakes with melted butter and sprinkle evenly over the top.

  5. Bake
Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until golden, bubbly, and heated through.

  6. Serve
Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.

⭐ Tips & Variations

  • Swap cheddar for Monterey Jack for a creamier flavor.

  • Add a can of diced green chiles for a mild kick.

  • Make it a full meal by mixing in browned breakfast sausage.

  • Leftovers reheat beautifully — even better the next day!

If you want, I can also give you a “Cracker Barrel-style” hash brown casserole, a lighter version, or a slow-cooker version.
