Homemade Cheese with 3 Ingredients

Absolutely! You can make a simple and delicious homemade cheese with just 3 ingredients — no fancy equipment needed. This style of cheese is similar to paneer, queso fresco, or farmer’s cheese.


🧀 Homemade Cheese (3 Ingredients)

🧾 Ingredients:

  1. 1 liter (about 4 cups) whole milk

  2. 2–3 tablespoons white vinegar (or lemon juice)

  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional, but recommended for flavor)


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Heat the Milk

  • Pour milk into a saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.

  • Heat until it reaches a gentle simmer (about 180–190°F / 82–88°C) — just before boiling.

2. Curdle the Milk

  • Remove from heat.

  • Add vinegar or lemon juice 1 tablespoon at a time, stirring gently after each addition.

  • The milk will start to curdle — you’ll see curds (solid) separating from whey (watery liquid).

  • Let sit for 5–10 minutes to fully separate.

3. Strain the Curds

  • Line a colander with a cheesecloth or clean thin dish towel.

  • Pour the mixture in to strain out the whey.

  • Sprinkle salt over the curds if using.

  • Gather the cloth edges and squeeze out as much liquid as you can.

4. Shape (Optional)

  • For a block shape, press the cheese (still in the cloth) under a small weight for 15–30 minutes.

  • For crumbly cheese, just fluff and serve after draining.


🧊 Store:

  • Keep in the fridge, covered, for up to 5 days.


📝 Tips:

  • Use whole milk for best texture and flavor — low-fat milk may not curdle well.

  • Add herbs, garlic, or chili flakes for flavor variations.

  • The leftover whey is great in smoothies, soups, or for baking bread!
