Homemade condensed milk with 2 ingredients

Absolutely! 🥛✨ You can make homemade sweetened condensed milk with just 2 simple ingredients — and it tastes just like the canned version (maybe even better).


🍶 2-Ingredient Homemade Condensed Milk Recipe

Makes: About 1¼ cups
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20–25 minutes


Ingredients

  • 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk

  • ⅔ cup (130 g) granulated sugar


Instructions

  1. Combine:
    Pour milk and sugar into a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan.

  2. Simmer gently:

    • Heat over medium-low, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

    • Once it starts to steam and tiny bubbles form at the edges, reduce heat to low.

    • Let it simmer without boiling, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reduces by about half (20–25 minutes).

  3. Check consistency:

    • It should look creamy and coat the back of a spoon.

    • Remember, it will thicken more as it cools.

  4. Cool & store:

    • Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

    • Store in a clean jar in the fridge for up to 1 week.


🧁 Tips

  • For a richer flavor, add a tiny pinch of salt or ½ tsp vanilla extract after cooking.

  • If you want a thicker version faster, simmer slightly longer (but don’t let it boil).

  • Perfect for coffee, fudge, ice cream, or desserts like tres leches cake and banoffee pie.
