If you see these two holes on a woman’s back, here’s what it means

Posted on December 12, 2025 by Admin
You’re talking about the two small indentations on the lower back—often called “Venus dimples” (on women) or “Apollo dimples” (on men).
They’re real, totally normal, and not a medical problem. Here’s what they actually mean:

🌙 What Those Two Holes on a Woman’s Lower Back Really Are

✔️ 1. They’re Anatomical Features Called “Venus Dimples”

The dimples form where:

  • The pelvis meets the spine,

  • Specifically near the posterior superior iliac spine (PSIS).

They appear as two symmetrical indentations right above the buttocks.

These dimples are genetic — you’re either born with the bone structure and connective tissue that creates the indentation… or you’re not.

✔️ 2. They’re Associated With Low Body Fat + Specific Bone Structure

Venus dimples are easier to see when:

  • A person naturally has lower body fat in that area,

  • The pelvis has a particular shape/angle,

  • The skin is tightly connected to underlying ligaments.

They have nothing to do with fitness level, though being lean can make them more visible.

✔️ 3. They’re Completely Harmless

They don’t indicate:

  • a health problem

  • a deficiency

  • a disorder

  • any medical issue

It’s just something some people have—like dimples in the cheeks.

✔️ 4. Some Believe They’re Linked to Better Circulation or Enjoyment

There’s a popular myth that Venus dimples are associated with:

  • good pelvic blood flow

  • higher sensitivity or better sexual pleasure

This isn’t scientifically proven, but it’s a widespread cultural belief.
What is true: they’re simply considered an attractive anatomic trait in many cultures.

✔️ 5. Can You “Create” Venus Dimples?

Not really — you can’t exercise your way into having them.
But you can make existing dimples more noticeable if you already have the anatomy by:

  • Reducing lower back/belly fat

  • Strengthening the lower back and core muscles

If the bone structure isn’t there, the dimples will never form.

🔍 So What Do They Mean?

In short:
They mean nothing medically, but they’re a genetic trait tied to pelvic anatomy and sometimes lower body fat. They’re harmless and completely normal.
