Low Points Fried Potatoes Onions And Smoked Polish Sausage

Posted on October 18, 2025 by Admin
Here’s a lightened-up version of a comfort food favorite:
Fried Potatoes, Onions, and Smoked Polish Sausage — but made with fewer points (perfect if you’re tracking WW or just looking for a healthier meal). It’s pan-fried, flavorful, and easy to throw together in under 30 minutes.

🥔 Low Points Fried Potatoes, Onions & Smoked Sausage

Serves: 4
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 20–25 min
Total Time: ~30–35 min

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 2 medium potatoes, diced (Yukon gold or red potatoes – skin on or off)

  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

  • 7 oz turkey or chicken smoked sausage, sliced into coins (lower points than pork versions)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or use olive oil spray to cut points

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder or minced garlic

  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

🍳 Instructions:

1. Par-Cook the Potatoes:

  • Place diced potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl with a splash of water.

  • Cover and microwave for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but not mushy. Drain and set aside.

2. Cook the Sausage:

  • In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, add a light spray of olive oil.

  • Add sausage slices and cook until browned (about 3–4 minutes). Remove and set aside.

3. Sauté Onions & Potatoes:

  • In the same pan, add a bit more oil spray.

  • Add onions and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.

  • Add the par-cooked potatoes, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

  • Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 8–10 minutes, flipping occasionally.

4. Combine & Finish:

  • Return sausage to the pan and toss everything together.

  • Cook 2–3 more minutes to heat through and blend flavors.

  • Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

⚖️ Estimated WW Points (per serving):

  • Turkey or chicken sausage (2 oz): ~2 points

  • Potatoes (½ medium): ~2–3 points

  • Olive oil (¼ tbsp per serving): ~1 point

  • Total: ~5–6 points per serving (depending on your WW plan and ingredients used)

🔁 Tips to Lower Points Even More:

  • Use olive oil spray instead of full tablespoons

  • Swap out sausage for chicken breast sausage or veggie sausage

  • Add bell peppers, zucchini, or mushrooms to bulk it up with 0-point veggies

  • Air-fry potatoes for less oil usage and extra crispiness
