Molhadinho Prestige Cake

Ingredients

Chocolate Cake

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups (300 g) sugar
  • ¾ cup (75 g) cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water

Milk Soak (“Molhadinho”)

  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) coconut milk (or regular milk)

Coconut Filling / Frosting

  • 1 can (395 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup (240 ml) coconut milk
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 2 tbsp butter

Chocolate Ganache (optional topping)

  • ½ cup (90 g) chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) heavy cream

Instructions

1️⃣ Bake the Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F. Grease & flour a 9×13 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
  4. Slowly stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
  5. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 30–35 min or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely.

2️⃣ Make the Milk Soak

  • Mix condensed milk + coconut milk. Set aside.

3️⃣ Prepare Coconut Filling / Frosting

  1. In a saucepan, combine condensed milk, coconut milk, shredded coconut, and butter.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 10 min).
  3. Let cool slightly.

4️⃣ Assemble the Cake

  1. Poke holes all over the cooled cake with a fork.
  2. Pour milk soak evenly over the cake. Let it absorb for 5–10 min.
  3. Spread coconut filling evenly over the top.

5️⃣ Chocolate Ganache (Optional)

  1. Heat cream until just simmering, pour over chocolate chips.
  2. Stir until smooth.
  3. Pour or drizzle over the coconut layer.

6️⃣ Chill & Serve

  • Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.
  • Slice with a sharp knife.

Tips for Extra Molhadinho Magic

  • Use full-fat coconut milk for creamier texture.
  • For even more flavor, add a splash of rum or coconut liqueur to the milk soak.
  • Sprinkle toasted coconut on top for crunch.
