Old Fashioned Fudge

Posted on October 27, 2025October 28, 2025 by Admin

🍫 Old-Fashioned Fudge — rich, creamy, and melt-in-your-mouth sweet, this classic treat brings nostalgia with every bite. Made with simple ingredients like sugar, butter, and milk, it’s a timeless candy that’s perfect for holidays or gifting.

🍬 Old-Fashioned Fudge Recipe

Makes: About 2 dozen pieces
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10–15 minutes
Cooling Time: 2 hours

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • ½ cup unsalted butter

  • ⅔ cup evaporated milk

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

  • Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Prepare pan:

    • Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  2. Cook the fudge base:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and evaporated milk.

    • Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

    • Boil for 4–5 minutes, then remove from heat.

  3. Add chocolate:

    • Stir in chocolate chips, vanilla, salt, and nuts (if using) until smooth and glossy.

  4. Pour and set:

    • Pour mixture into prepared pan, smoothing the top.

    • Let cool at room temperature for 2 hours, or refrigerate for faster setting.

  5. Cut and serve:

    • Once firm, cut into squares and enjoy!

✨ Tips for Perfect Fudge

  • Stir constantly while boiling to prevent burning or graininess.

  • For a smoother texture, use a candy thermometer — aim for 234–240°F (soft-ball stage).

  • Flavor variations: Add peppermint extract, orange zest, or swirl in caramel for a twist.

I can also generate a tempting image of old-fashioned fudge — glossy, chocolatey squares, some with chopped nuts on top, ready to bite.

Do you want me to create that image?
