🥞 Old-Fashioned Pancakes Recipe
📋 Ingredients (makes about 8 pancakes):
-
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
3 ½ tsp baking powder
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 tbsp white sugar
-
1 ¼ cups milk
-
1 egg
-
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (plus more for cooking)
-
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional, but adds great flavor)
🔧 Instructions:
-
Mix dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. -
Mix wet ingredients:
In another bowl or large measuring cup, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. -
Combine:
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Don’t overmix — a few small lumps are okay! -
Rest the batter (optional but recommended):
Let the batter sit for 5–10 minutes while your pan heats up. This helps the pancakes fluff up more. -
Cook:
Heat a lightly buttered griddle or skillet over medium heat.
Pour about ¼ cup of batter for each pancake.
Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges look set (about 2–3 minutes), then flip and cook the other side until golden brown (1–2 minutes more). -
Serve hot:
With butter, maple syrup, fresh berries, or your favorite toppings!
🍓 Optional Add-ins:
-
Blueberries, chocolate chips, or sliced bananas can be added to the batter before cooking.
