Oven-baked cabbage burgers

Posted on October 21, 2025 by Admin
Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for oven-baked cabbage burgers — a savory, veggie-packed patty that’s great for a meatless meal or side dish. These burgers are baked, not fried, and full of flavor.

🌿 Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers Recipe

✅ Ingredients:

  • 1 small head of cabbage (about 4 cups shredded)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 eggs

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)

  • ½ cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice) – optional

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (plus more for brushing)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Optional: herbs like parsley, dill, or chives

  • Optional: ¼ tsp smoked paprika or cumin for added flavor

🥣 Instructions:

  1. Prep the cabbage:

    • Shred the cabbage finely using a knife or food processor.

    • Sprinkle with a little salt, let sit for 10 minutes, then squeeze out excess moisture using a clean towel or cheesecloth.

  2. Sauté aromatics (optional for flavor boost):

    • In a skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil and sauté chopped onion and garlic until soft and fragrant (about 3–5 minutes). Let cool.

  3. Mix the patty mixture:

    • In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, sautéed onion/garlic, eggs, breadcrumbs, cheese, herbs, and spices.

    • Mix until well combined. If it’s too wet, add more breadcrumbs. It should hold its shape when formed into a patty.

  4. Form patties:

    • Shape the mixture into 6–8 burger-sized patties.

  5. Bake:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

    • Place patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush lightly with olive oil.

    • Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crisp on the edges.

  6. Serve:

    • Serve on buns with your favorite burger toppings, or on their own with a dip like tzatziki, sour cream, or spicy mayo.

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Serve in a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and mustard.

  • Crumble into a wrap or salad.

  • Use as a side dish with soup or roasted veggies.
