Here’s an easy, weeknight-friendly PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLOPPY JOES recipe.


🥩 PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLOPPY JOES

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (if beef is lean)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, finely chopped (optional but very Philly)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp steak seasoning (or salt & pepper to taste)
  • 1 tbsp ketchup (optional—keeps it “sloppy joe” style)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 4–6 hoagie rolls or hamburger buns
  • 6–8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef
    • Cook ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned.
    • Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Add veggies
    • Add onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms.
    • Cook 4–6 minutes until soft and lightly caramelized.
    • Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  3. Make it sloppy
    • Add Worcestershire, steak seasoning, ketchup, and beef broth.
    • Simmer 5–8 minutes until juicy but not soupy.
  4. Add the cheese
    • Lower heat.
    • Lay provolone slices over the meat.
    • Cover pan and let melt (or stir in for ultra-gooey).
  5. Serve
    • Spoon onto toasted hoagie rolls or buns.
    • Serve hot and napkin-heavy.

🔥 Optional Upgrades

  • Swap provolone for Cheez Whiz (true Philly chaos energy)
  • Add hot cherry peppers or banana peppers
  • Use ground sirloin for cleaner flavor
  • Toast rolls with butter & garlic for extra flex
