Pico de gallo

🌶️🇲🇽 Pico de Gallo (also known as salsa fresca) is a classic fresh Mexican salsa — vibrant, crunchy, and full of flavor. It’s made with just a handful of simple ingredients and takes about 10 minutes to whip up. Perfect for tacos, chips, grilled meats, or just about anything!


🌈 Pico de Gallo Recipe


🛒 Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe Roma tomatoes, finely diced

  • ½ white onion, finely chopped

  • 1–2 jalapeños (or serrano peppers), finely minced (remove seeds for less heat)

  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

  • Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tbsp)

  • Salt, to taste (start with ½ tsp and adjust)

  • Optional: 1 small clove garlic, finely minced

  1. Chop & Combine:

    • Dice tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño evenly for good texture.

    • Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl.

  2. Season:

    • Add lime juice and salt.

    • Mix gently until everything is coated.

  3. Rest & Serve:

    • Let sit for 10–15 minutes before serving — this helps the flavors meld.


🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Spoon over tacos, burritos, nachos, or quesadillas

  • Use as a topping for grilled chicken, fish, or steak

  • Serve with tortilla chips for a fresh, light snack

  • Mix into avocado for an instant guacamole-style dip

  • For a juicier salsa, use regular tomatoes (and remove some seeds if too watery).

  • For a milder flavor, soak the chopped onions in cold water for 5 minutes before mixing.
