Delicious choice! Here’s a comforting recipe for Pork Steaks in Creamy Sauce with Mushrooms — tender pork cooked to perfection with a rich, savory mushroom cream sauce. Perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.

🥩🍄 Pork Steaks in Creamy Mushroom Sauce

Serves: 4
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 25–30 min
Total Time: ~40 min

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 4 pork steaks (about 1-inch thick)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (white button or cremini)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter)

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)

  • 1 tsp fresh thyme or ½ tsp dried thyme

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

🍳 Instructions:

1. Season & Sear Pork:

  • Pat pork steaks dry, season both sides with salt and pepper.

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Add pork steaks and sear until golden brown, about 4–5 minutes per side.

  • Remove pork and set aside.

2. Cook Mushrooms & Aromatics:

  • In the same skillet, add mushrooms and cook until browned and softened (~5 minutes).

  • Add onion and garlic; cook 2–3 minutes until fragrant.

3. Make the Cream Sauce:

  • Stir in chicken broth, scraping any browned bits from the pan.

  • Add heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and thyme.

  • Bring to a gentle simmer and cook until sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.

4. Return Pork to Sauce:

  • Nestle pork steaks back into the skillet.

  • Spoon sauce over the pork and simmer for another 5 minutes, or until pork is cooked through (internal temp 145°F/63°C).

5. Serve:

  • Garnish with chopped parsley.

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles to soak up all that creamy sauce.

🔁 Variations:

  • Swap cream for coconut milk for a dairy-free version.

  • Add a splash of white wine to the sauce for extra depth.

  • Stir in spinach or peas at the end for some greens.
