Let’s break it down into 3 main components and then bring it all together:

🥩 Salisbury Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Mushroom-Onion Gravy

🕒 Prep: 25 min | Cook: 30 min

🍽️ Serves: 4–6

🔹 Part 1: Salisbury Steak Patties

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

  • ⅓ cup breadcrumbs

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl until combined (don’t overmix).

  3. Sear in a skillet with a bit of oil over medium-high heat, 4–5 min per side, until browned.

  4. Remove and set aside (they’ll finish cooking in the gravy).

🔹 Part 2: Mushroom & Onion Gravy

🍄 Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp butter + 1 tbsp oil

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Optional: 1 tsp Dijon mustard or a splash of cream for extra richness

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. In the same skillet, add butter & oil.

  2. Sauté onions for 2–3 minutes, then add mushrooms and cook until browned.

  3. Sprinkle in flour, stir and cook for 1–2 minutes.

  4. Gradually add beef broth, whisking to avoid lumps.

  5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, mustard (optional), and season to taste.

  6. Add the steaks back in, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until cooked through and sauce thickens.

🔹 Part 3: Garlic Mashed Potatoes

🥔 Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed

  • 4–5 cloves garlic, peeled

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • ½–¾ cup milk or heavy cream, warmed

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Optional: splash of sour cream or cream cheese for extra creaminess

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Boil potatoes and garlic together in salted water until fork-tender (12–15 min).

  2. Drain and return to pot.

  3. Add butter and mash. Slowly add warm milk/cream until desired consistency is reached.

  4. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in sour cream or cream cheese if using.
