Here’s a delicious recipe to make it at home:
🍰 Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
-
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
-
2 tsp baking powder
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
-
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
-
4 large eggs
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 cup whole milk
For the Salted Caramel Sauce:
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
6 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into pieces
-
1/2 cup heavy cream
-
1 tsp sea salt (adjust to taste)
Instructions:
1. Preheat and Prep:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or a 9×13-inch baking pan.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
5. Combine Wet and Dry:
Add dry ingredients in three parts alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
6. Bake:
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 50-60 minutes (or 35-40 minutes for 9×13 pan), or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
7. Make Salted Caramel Sauce:
-
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt sugar until it liquefies and turns a deep amber color (watch closely, do not stir initially — you can gently swirl the pan).
-
Add butter and stir until melted and combined.
-
Slowly pour in heavy cream while stirring (mixture will bubble up).
-
Remove from heat and stir in sea salt. Let cool slightly.
8. Serve:
Drizzle salted caramel sauce over slices or the whole cake warm or at room temperature.
Tips:
-
This cake is amazing served warm with vanilla ice cream.
-
Store leftovers covered at room temperature or refrigerated for up to 3 days.
-
For extra caramel flavor, brush the cake with some caramel sauce after baking, before drizzling the rest on top.
