Here’s a classic savory minced meat filling you can use for many dishes (dumplings, stuffed vegetables, pastries, wraps, or pies). It’s flavorful, flexible, and easy to customize.


🍖 Savory Minced Meat Filling (All-Purpose)

Ingredients

  • 500 g (1 lb) minced meat (beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, or pork)

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1–2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika or mild chili powder

  • ½ tsp ground cumin or allspice (optional)

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or cilantro

  • 2–3 tbsp breadcrumbs or soaked bread (for moisture)

  • 1–2 tbsp water or broth


Instructions

  1. Sauté aromatics
    Heat oil in a pan. Cook onion until soft and lightly golden. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

  2. Add minced meat
    Stir in the meat and cook until no longer pink, breaking it up well.

  3. Season
    Add salt, pepper, paprika, and spices. Mix thoroughly.

  4. Moisten & finish
    Add breadcrumbs and a splash of water or broth. Cook 2–3 minutes until juicy, not dry.

  5. Herbs
    Stir in fresh herbs and remove from heat.

  • Meat pies, empanadas, samosas

  • Dumplings or wontons

  • Flatbread or wrap filling

  • Baked pasta or lasagna layer

  • Middle Eastern: Add cumin, coriander, and pine nuts

  • Asian-style: Add soy sauce, ginger, and green onions

  • Spicy: Add chili flakes or harissa
