Here’s a mouthwatering slow-cooked ham or pork dish that’s tender, flavorful, and perfect for feeding a crowd or making ahead. I’ll give you two versions—one with ham and one with pork shoulder—both slow-cooked, both delicious!


🐖 1. Slow-Cooked Brown Sugar Glazed Ham

Perfect for holidays or Sunday dinner

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (5–7 lbs)

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • ½ cup honey

  • ½ cup Dijon or yellow mustard

  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar or orange juice

  • 1 tsp ground cloves (or a few whole cloves, optional)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ham:

    • Place ham in a large slow cooker (trim if needed).

    • Score the top in a crisscross pattern (optional, for presentation and flavor).

  2. Make the Glaze:

    • Mix brown sugar, honey, mustard, vinegar (or juice), cloves, and pepper.

  3. Cook:

    • Pour glaze over ham.

    • Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours, basting occasionally.

  4. Optional Finish:

    • For a sticky, caramelized top, place ham under the broiler for 5 minutes after cooking, brushing with glaze.


🐷 2. Slow-Cooked Pulled Pork (Savory Style)

Perfect for sandwiches, tacos, or over mashed potatoes

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 3–4 lb pork shoulder (or pork butt)

  • 1 tbsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tbsp paprika (smoked or sweet)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp cayenne (optional)

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar

  • ½ cup broth or water

🍳 Instructions:

  1. Season the Pork:

    • Mix all spices and rub over the pork.

    • Place sliced onions in the bottom of the slow cooker, and set pork on top.

  2. Add Liquid:

    • Pour vinegar and broth around (not over) the pork.

  3. Cook:

    • Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours (or HIGH for 5–6).

    • Shred pork with two forks. Mix back into juices.

  4. Optional Additions:

    • Stir in BBQ sauce for pulled pork sandwiches.

    • Add salsa verde or chipotle for tacos.


🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Ham: Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or scalloped potatoes.

  • Pulled Pork: Serve on buns, over rice, in tacos, or with cornbread.
