🍗 Basic Slow Cooker Chicken

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or water for a lighter option)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: herbs like thyme, rosemary, or oregano

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken
    • Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add to slow cooker
    • Place chicken in the slow cooker.
    • Pour chicken broth around the chicken (not over the top if you want a more “roasted” flavor).
  3. Cook
    • Low: 6–7 hours
    • High: 3–4 hours
      Chicken should be tender and fully cooked (internal temperature 165°F / 74°C).
  4. Optional: Make a sauce
    • Remove chicken.
    • Add cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water) to the juices and cook on High for 10 minutes to thicken.
  5. Serve
    • Over rice, pasta, or with mashed potatoes
    • Add steamed or roasted vegetables

💡 Flavor Variations

  • BBQ: Pour BBQ sauce over chicken before cooking.
  • Honey Garlic: Mix honey, soy sauce, and garlic for a sticky glaze.
  • Italian: Use Italian dressing and dried herbs.
  • Lemon Herb: Add lemon juice, garlic, and rosemary.
