soft Christmas peppermints

Posted on December 1, 2025 by Admin
Here’s a delicious, old-fashioned Soft Christmas Peppermints recipe — the melt-in-your-mouth kind you find at holiday parties and candy shops.

🍬 Soft Christmas Peppermints (Old-Fashioned Cream Cheese Mints)

These are soft, creamy, festive, and super easy to make—no cooking required!

🎄 Ingredients

  • 4 oz (½ block) cream cheese, softened

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

  • 3 cups powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)

  • ½ tsp peppermint extract

  • Food coloring (red, green, optional)

  • Granulated sugar for rolling

🎁 Instructions

1. Beat the Base

In a mixing bowl, beat together:

  • Cream cheese

  • Butter

  • Peppermint extract

Mix until smooth and creamy.

2. Add the Sugar

Add powdered sugar, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
Dough should be firm enough to roll but still very soft.

3. Color the Dough (Optional)

Divide dough into portions and tint:

  • Red

  • Green

  • Leave some white for classic Christmas colors

Knead color in gently.

4. Shape the Mints

Roll small ½-inch balls and flatten with a fork OR roll dough into ropes and cut into pieces.

5. Coat & Dry

Roll each piece in granulated sugar.
Place on a parchment-lined tray and let dry 6–12 hours.
(They firm up on the outside but stay soft inside!)

⭐ Storage

  • Store in an airtight container.

  • Lasts 2–3 weeks in the fridge.

  • Freezes beautifully for up to 2 months.
