Swiss chocolate cake

Posted on October 19, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a rich and indulgent Swiss Chocolate Cake recipe — smooth, velvety, and perfect for any occasion where you want to impress (or just treat yourself). It’s inspired by the high-quality, creamy style of Swiss chocolate and pairs beautifully with whipped cream or ganache.

🍫 Swiss Chocolate Cake

Serves: 10–12 | Prep Time: 20 mins | Bake Time: 30–35 mins

🛒 Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 6 oz (170g) Swiss chocolate, melted & slightly cooled (like Lindt or Toblerone)

  • 1 ¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup (180ml) buttermilk

Optional Add-ins:

  • ½ cup finely chopped hazelnuts or almonds for texture

For the Chocolate Ganache (Optional but amazing):

  • 6 oz (170g) Swiss chocolate, chopped

  • ½ cup heavy cream

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prep & Preheat

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease and flour a 9-inch round or 8-inch square cake pan (or two for layering).

2. Cream Butter & Sugar

  • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 mins).

3. Add Eggs & Chocolate

  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

  • Stir in vanilla and the melted Swiss chocolate.

4. Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

5. Combine Wet & Dry

  • Add flour mixture to the wet ingredients in three parts, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour.

  • Mix until just combined — don’t overmix.

  • Fold in nuts, if using.

6. Bake

  • Pour batter into prepared pan.

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Let cool in pan 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.

🍫 Make the Ganache (Optional):

  1. Heat cream until just steaming (don’t boil).

  2. Pour over chopped chocolate in a bowl. Let sit 1 minute, then stir until smooth.

  3. Let cool slightly to thicken before pouring over cake.

🍰 Serving Suggestions:

  • Dust with powdered sugar

  • Drizzle with ganache or layer with chocolate buttercream

  • Serve with whipped cream and fresh berries

Would you like a layered version with filling, or a flourless Swiss chocolate torte for a more elegant dessert?
