Ah — the Toll House Famous Fudge! 🍫
This is Nestlé’s classic, old-fashioned fudge recipe that’s been printed on the back of the Nestlé Toll House Semi-Sweet Morsels bag for decades. It’s smooth, chocolatey, and foolproof — no candy thermometer needed!

🍫 Toll House Famous Fudge

Servings: About 2½ lbs (makes ~40 pieces)

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Chill Time: 2 hours

🧂 Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar

  • ⅔ cup (5 fl oz) evaporated milk

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 2 cups (12 oz pkg) Nestlé Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

  • 1 jar (7 oz) marshmallow crème (Fluff)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan:
Line an 8-inch square baking pan with foil. Lightly butter or spray the foil for easy removal later.

  2. Cook Sugar Mixture:
In a medium, heavy saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt.
Bring to a full rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
Boil for 4–5 minutes, continuing to stir — this step is crucial for fudge texture!

  3. Add Chocolate & Marshmallow Crème:
    Remove from heat.
Immediately stir in chocolate morsels, marshmallow crème, and vanilla extract.
Stir vigorously until everything is completely melted and smooth.

  4. Add Nuts (Optional):
    Fold in nuts if using.

  5. Pour & Chill:
Pour mixture into the prepared pan. Spread evenly with a spatula.
Refrigerate until firm — about 2 hours.

  6. Cut & Serve:
Lift fudge from pan using the foil edges.
Cut into 1-inch squares. Store covered in the refrigerator.

🍬 Tips for Perfect Fudge

  • Boil time matters: Boil the mixture for a full 4–5 minutes to avoid soft fudge.

  • Stir constantly: Prevents scorching and ensures smooth texture.

  • Use real evaporated milk — not sweetened condensed milk!

  • Room temperature serving: Let fudge sit 10 minutes after removing from fridge for best texture.
