Wet Burritos

Wet burritos — now we’re talking comfort food on a whole other level! They’re basically big burritos smothered in sauce and melted cheese, baked to cheesy perfection. Here’s a classic recipe for Wet Burritos:


🌯🔥 Wet Burritos Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 large flour tortillas

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken or ground beef

  • 1 can (15 oz) refried beans (optional)

  • 1 ½ cups cooked rice (optional)

  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)

  • 1 can (10 oz) red enchilada sauce or chili sauce

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Sour cream, chopped cilantro, sliced jalapeños, and diced tomatoes for topping


Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare Filling:
    In a skillet, cook diced onion until soft. Add shredded chicken or ground beef, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and cook until heated through.

  3. Assemble Burritos:
    Warm tortillas to make them pliable.
    Lay out each tortilla and add a layer of refried beans (if using), then a scoop of rice, then the meat mixture, and a sprinkle of cheese. Roll up tightly.

  4. Place in Baking Dish:
    Pour a thin layer of enchilada sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Place burritos seam-side down.

  5. Top Burritos:
    Pour remaining sauce over the burritos and sprinkle with remaining cheese.

  6. Bake:
    Bake for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is melted.

  7. Serve:
    Top with sour cream, cilantro, jalapeños, diced tomatoes, or any other favorite toppings.
