Sausage-Cheese Balls Recipe

Posted on January 15, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic, easy Sausage–Cheese Balls recipe that’s always a crowd-pleaser—great for parties, game days, or make-ahead breakfasts 🧀🌭

🧀 Sausage-Cheese Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pork breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1¾ cups baking mix (like Bisquick)
  • ¼ cup milk (optional, helps keep them moist)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp onion powder (optional)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix ingredients
In a large bowl, combine sausage, cheese, baking mix, milk (if using), and seasonings. Mix until well combined. (Clean hands work best.)
  3. Shape balls
Roll mixture into 1-inch balls and place on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
  4. Bake
Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Drain & serve
    Let cool slightly. Serve warm.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Extra cheesy: Add ½ cup mozzarella or pepper jack.
  • Spicy: Use hot sausage or add a pinch of cayenne.
  • Gluten-free: Use a gluten-free baking mix.
  • Crispier bottoms: Bake on a wire rack set over a baking sheet.

❄️ Make Ahead & Freezing

  • Unbaked: Freeze balls on a tray, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen at 375°F for 22–25 minutes.
  • Baked: Reheat in oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.

If you want, I can also share a 3-ingredient version, a keto/low-carb version, or a cream cheese version 😊
